Where is the Real Pirates Salem Exhibit Located?

Real Pirates Salem is housed in a large brick building behind Lulu’s Bakery, which abuts Derby Street. The Museum is situated on historic Charlotte Forten Park. You will know you are at the correct location when you see the very tall character murals of some of our pirates painted on the exterior of the brick walls out front. 

How much time does it take to tour the Exhibit?

We typically recommend allowing at least 1 to 2 hours to explore the Exhibit.

What are the Exhibit hours?

The Museum opens at 10:00 am each day, and the last entrance is at 4:30 pm for a 5:00 pm closing.  On October weekends, with high demand, the Museum may stay open slightly later than 5 pm. To be certain, contact Real Pirates Salem or check our hours on Google for the most up-to-date information. Real Pirates Salem guests are welcome to visit the Museum at any time during opening on the date specified on each ticket. We look forward to seeing you at the Museum!

When is last entry into the Exhibit?

Last entry to the museum is at 4:30 pm.

Where Should I Park?

There are a few options for parking:

• First, there are a limited number of public parking spaces in the back of the Real Pirates Salem building at 285 Derby Street.
• If these spots are not available, there is also street parking via meters on Derby Street and its adjoining streets.
• If you can’t find a spot in the metered spaces along Derby and its adjoining streets, we recommend using the South Harbor Garage (at the corner of Derby & Congress Street). It is a very inexpensive public garage approximately one block away from the Museum – literally a 3-minute walk. This location is also above the Destination Salem headquarters office where you can stop in and pick up other brochures and information about Salem.

What is the maximum group size for the Exhibit?

Large groups are welcome! We will work with you to sequence larger groups effectively through the exhibit and ensure the most comfortable and informative experience for each participant.

Is there an age restriction for children who are Exhibit visitors?

Visitors of all ages are welcome!

Do you offer group booking discounts?

Yes! Real Pirates Salem offers a discount for all bookings in excess of 15 people. Depending on group size, discounted or complimentary passes are also available for motorcoach drivers accompanying your group. Contact Real Pirates Salem Events at (978) 259-1717 for more information.
